Majaelrayo is a small village to the northeast of Madrid in the province of Guadalajara.
This is where I, Richard Stephens, have found my place of retirement and where I now live in peace and quiet.
I came to Spain in 1964 and worked first as a choreographer and then as the chef and owner of the La Gamella restaurant in Madrid. I decided upon retirement in 2005 that country living is a good way to spin out the rest of my life. Aside from a lot of leisurely living, I also find time to pursue one of my other interests: painting. I have concentrated on fabric painting and now produce hand-crafted cotton tablecloths and silk scarves. Although I do not consider this a business, I do sell the products of my efforts.
